Department Description

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Risk Manager, work with all functions and processes within the Risk Management Unit. Monitors, analyzes and reports injury data trends. Work with other Risk Management staff in the administration of the University Workers' Compensation (WC), General Liability, Auto, Property and other Self Insured Risk programs. Under general supervision, provide general back up for Risk Management programs. Serve as general liaison between Risk Management and the rest of the University departments. Facilitate coordination of data, reporting, communication, and ling efforts on programs between University departments, vendors, our Third Party Administrator (TPA) and Risk Management. involves protecting the institution from loss. Develops and coordinates activities and programs that are designed to promote accountability. Helps identify and minimize risk of all types, and strengthen effectiveness and efficiency of controls.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work at computer terminal for extended periods of time.
Sit for extended periods of time.
Speak on the telephone.
Extended periods of time performing repetitive typing and data input.
Lift and file paper files and boxes weighing up to 25lbs.
Occasional reaching, grasping & pulling, bending and stooping.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee is personally responsible for following health and safety guidelines/instructions.
Work occasional overtime and/or alternate work hours.
Travel to occasional seminars, training events and conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Experience in insurance claims or related industry.
Experience in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Working knowledge of Risk Management principles or related experience.
Ability to coordinate, prioritize and meet multiple tasks/responsibilities at once.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and flexibility to work with wide variety of people with differing priorities and perspectives.
Intermediate level ability to use software programs Excel and Word.
Mathematical skills sufficient for calculations and statistical analysis.

Preferred:

Experience with California Workers' Compensation claims. -Experience with GL, Auto, EPL, and Property claims.
Experience using third party claims management software programs.
Experience with Adobe Acrobat, MS PowerPoint and Outlook software programs.
Knowledge of University Payroll system and Personnel, Employee and Labor Relations policies and procedures.
Familiarity with Drupal or related content management system.
